Rail Runner teams up with RoadRunner to make
the Holidays happier for those less fortunate
(12-05-06) - The New Mexico Rail Runner Express will be hosting a
food drive in conjunction with the RoadRunner Food Bank of New Mexico
this holiday season. There will be collection barrels on each Rail
Runner train beginning Wednesday, December 6th.
“This is a great way for
Rail Runner passengers to reach out to those in need this
holiday season,” says Lawrence Rael, Executive Director of the
Mid-Region Council of Governments. “Tens of thousands of New
Mexicans are at risk of going hungry during these cold winter
months – one in every three of them being children. Through its
network of almost 700 agencies statewide, RoadRunner feeds
approximately 240 thousand New Mexicans each year.”
Rail Runner passengers are encouraged to bring a
non-perishable food donation on the train.
