(3-14-07) – Lots going on in downtown Albuquerque this
weekend with the City of Albuquerque’s Convention Center hosting the
largest Home Show in New Mexico, as well as all kinds of St.
Patrick’s Day festivities. And as luck would have it – the New
Mexico Rail Runner Express is running free Saturday service so one
and all can enjoy without the hassles of traffic and parking.
“These are the types of events where the Rail Runner can really
provide an efficient and safe means of transportation to some large
venues – in this case, the Convention Center’s Home Show and St.
Patrick’s events downtown”, says Lawrence Rael, Executive Director
of the Mid-Region Council of Governments.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the Rail Runner”, says
Katherine Martinez, Director of Government Affairs for the Home
Builders Association of Central New Mexico. “Every year we get more
and more people coming to the show, so having the Rail Runner help
get them here will be a huge help”, adds Martinez.
“It’s great that Rail Runner trains will be running all day”,
says Brian Morris, Acting President of the Downtown Action Team.
“The Home Builders Showcase will attract a large crowd during the
day, and Maloney’s big St. Patrick’s Day tent event typically
attracts about 10,000 people at night – so we’re glad the holiday
revelers will have a safe ride home”
