Proposed Montano Rail Runner Station
Details
The Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG)
is proposing a Rail Runner station on Montano between 2nd
Street and Edith Blvd.
MRCOG is completing the environmental review of the site and the
proposed use. Station
design concepts are also being developed and evaluated.
Currently, funding is not in place for station construction
and an estimated station cost has not been determined.
MRCOG will pursue funding for construction when a station
concept and a cost estimate has been determined.
Station Location

The station will be located approximately 4
miles north of the Downtown Albuquerque station and 4 miles south of
the Los Ranchos / Journal Center station.
Concepts for the station include parking (ranging from 100 to
200 spaces), a platform, shade structures, a kiss and ride area, and
bus and shuttle facilities.
The station will significantly increase the number of people
who live within ten minutes of the Rail Runner system and, because
it is located on Montano, will provide improved access for west side
residents.
A public information meeting regarding the
proposed station was held on December 15, 2009.
